Paul and Silas and their fellow prisoners are freed from their shackles by an earthquake. The jailer, seeing that all the doors have burst open, wants to commit suicide with his sword, but Paul and Silas dissuade him from doing so. Below in the margin is a reference to the Bible text and title in Greek, English, German, Latin, French and Dutch. The print was used in the following books: Figures de la Bible (Amsterdam: Bernard Picart, 1720) and Taferelen der voornaamste geschiedenissen van het Oude en Nieuwe Testament [...] door de vermaarde kunstenaars Hoet, Houbraken, en Picart getekent [...] en met beschrijvingen uitgebreid (Den Haag: Pieter de Hondt, 1728).
