The naked Mars stands on a pedestal amidst an army as ruler of the arts of war. He holds a sword and halberd in his hands, a shield leans against his leg. Surrounding Mars are soldiers on foot and on horseback, in the foreground a drummer. In the sky we see the symbols of the constellations ram (left) and scorpion (right). The print is part of a series of seven representations called the planetary gods.
