Christ in Limbo: 'who descended into hell, risen from the dead the third day' (after the Latin inscription Descendit ad infernvm tertia die resvrrexit a mortvis) refers to the fifth article of faith: belief in Christ's resurrection. The print shows Christ's descent into limbo after his death. He reaches the gates of hell and reaches out to Old Testament saints. Beside him Adam and Eve. In the background right the resurrection of Christ. The print has a Latin caption with a Bible quote referring to the Bible story depicted and a Latin caption on the Apostolic Creed. This is the fifth print in a 12-part series on the Creed.
