The coal merchant Édouard Taymans ordered this plaque for his customers in 1904 from Constantin Meunier. A miner is depicted with a helmet and pickaxe, in the background a mountain of coal and a smoking chimney appear. Numerous examples of this relief were made in earthenware, plaster and bronze. The workshop is unknown.
