This medal was made to mark the inauguration of the Wolfers House in Brussels in 1912, known for its silverware and medals. The house was founded in 1850 by Louis Wolfers together with his sons Philippe and Max. After the death of their father in 1892, the company was transformed into the firm "Wolfers Frères". The family business soon became well known and sculptors who opted for pieces with high relief turned to the Wolfers' firm because it had the know-how and materials to realise them. On 4 November 1912, a new studio opened in Brussels in rue Arenberg. On this occasion, Huis Wolfers issued this medal. It depicts an entire generation on the obverse: father, mother, their three children and grandfather. They are all standing under an apple tree. On the reverse, ears of corn are depicted, surrounding an inscription. About three hundred copies were minted. The medal was exhibited, in gilt silver, silver and bronze, at the Medal Salon of the World Fair in Ghent in 1913.
