Paul Henri Benjamin Balluet, Baron d'Estournelles de Constant (1852-1924) was a French diplomat. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1909 for his participation in the Hague Peace Conference of 1899, as a French delegate. From 1919, he became director of the French State Museums. The obverse of the medal shows a portrait of the baron, the reverse bears the motto 'être utile', expressed by a man pushing a large wheel forward.
