The obverse of this plaque depicts a woman with long hair. She depicts the 19th century and sits dying on the ground, her back against the trunk of an oak tree; there are roses on her lap and in her raised right hand she holds a torch; to the right, a winged genius, a symbol of the 20th century, walks and takes the torch from her. On the reverse, diagonally across the plaque is a laurel branch in an overcast sky with a view of the Grand and Small Palace of the World's Fair as seen from Nikolaas II Avenue.
