St Sebastian is depicted as a brave man, indifferent to the tortures inflicted on him. Indeed, the attitude of his body, with his legs crossed, could even be described as elegant. The artist combines decorative rhythm with animated expression. The figure is a fine example of late-gothic sculpture in the Lower Rhine region. It is regarded as one of the most important works by Master Arnt.
