Candlesticks and earrings by J-oké

Joke found inspiration for her ceramic candlesticks in ‘Sunny Day’ (1899), by Emile Claus. She was touched by the light in the painting, and its colours are reflected in the soft tints of her gently glistening glazes. The candlesticks are available separately and in pairs, and come packaged in a pretty box.

Besides the candlesticks, Joke has also designed ceramic earrings inspired by Théo Van Rysselberghe’s painting ‘The Lecture by Emile Verhaeren’ (1903). Like the brushstrokes in the painting, no two pairs of earrings are identical. Joke makes them by hand from clay that dries black, glazing them in the same lively colours that appear in the painting. The finished earrings come in a handmade pouch. zakje.
