With 'In Dialogue', MSK Ghent invites you to the museum to practice your Dutch with a group of non-native speakers, using the works of art from the permanent MSK collection.
Talking about universal subjects such as love, music, parties, seasons,... the group gets to know each other and each other's culture. It is also an accessible introduction to the museum and its rich art collection.
The discussion cards are a tool to start lively conversations. The concept is simple: look at the painting, get inspired by the example questions and start a conversation in Dutch.
The dialogue cards form a bridge between experiencing art and acquiring language. The dialogue cards are designed in such a way that no additional museum guidance or guide is needed. The activity can therefore be done completely independently, without reservation. However, we do recommend a Dutch-speaking guide.
To make your visit as easy as possible, the dialogue cards, as well as the floor plan and the manual are available digitally. If you are unable to come to the museum, you can also use the dialogue cards in your classroom, together with the digital version of the visual material. You can download that here.
It is also possible to book a guided tour for non-native speakers (in Dutch).
The Museum of Fine Arts Ghent aspires to be an inclusive and accessible museum, for everyone.
We would like to hear how we can do this even better. So don't hesitate to contact us.
