First, the children visited the MSK to look at portraits in the collection. Then, in workshops at school, they created their own portraits, stories and songs featuring their grandparents.
During the event ‘A Plateful of Stories’, they treated an audience to a surprising banquet of tales in between the courses of a real meal. They told stories, sang and acted out their own relationships with their grandparents.
Writer and slam poet Lindah Nyirenda spent time helping the children with their stories. Musician Thomas Noël helped with the musical side of things and MSK guides Annelies and Sofie Steen worked on portraits with the children. The entire project was coordinated by KOPERGIETERY Ghent.
