Gérard Edelinck made this print after a self-portrait of the Brussels-born painter Philippe de Champaigne, who was mainly active in France (Musée du Louvre, Paris). The towers of St Michael and St Goedele Cathedral in Brussels are depicted in the background on the right. The copy in Ghent has been cut off all around, which means that the caption, including the date, has disappeared.
