Jacob secretly returns to Canaan, taking his wives, children and possessions with him. Left in the background, Jacob informs his wives Leah and Rachel of their departure. Laban set off in pursuit and searches all possessions. In the foreground, Jacob and Leban are talking to each other. On the right, Rachel sits on the ground in a tent. Her father next to her asks where the teraphim or statues of the gods she stole are hidden (Gen 31:22).
