In the somewhat tranquil etching "The Street-Lamp", Ensor shows a winter view through the window of the front room of the building at 20 rue Vautier in Brussels, where the family Ernest Rousseau lived. In the foreground is a street lamp cut by the window frame. In the background we can see the lower-lying houses on the Chaussée de Wavre.
