This is a detailed, full-scale preliminary study for the central part of the sheet panel in the Chapel of the Sweet Name of Jesus in the Holy Christmas Church in Ghent. Only a few details differ: a badge on Christ's cloak is missing from the drawing, as are the daisies at the bottom. The blood jet does not appear on the altarpiece, nor does the chalice, which is replaced there by a rose bush.
