Wedding Dance in the open air by Pieter II Brueghel is probably a copy of a lost work by his father Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The composition may also be a compilation of elements from various wedding dance scenes that his father painted. There are several versions extant of this Wedding Dance. In the foreground we see some dancing couples who are depicted almost literally in every version. In some versions, the bride also joins in the dancing. Here she is centrally depicted, sitting in the background, in front of a cloth to which a crown has been attached. Some of the guests look at the dish on the table before her with curiosity to see how much money she has received in gifts.
