With the high relief The Human Passions, the Museum of Fine Arts houses one of the most famous testimonies of Belgian monumental sculpture at the end of the 19th century. The version in the museum is a cast of the marble version in Victor Horta's tempietto in the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, which was closed to the public a few days after its opening on 1 October 1899. Lambeaux's relief shows humanity dominated by Death under the pitying gaze of Christ.
