MAX BECKMANN

THE COLLECTION OF THE VON DER HEYDT- MUSEUM WUPPERTAL

Max Beckmann was one of the most exceptional twentieth-century German artists. Together with George Grosz and Otto Dix, Beckmann is considered to be one of the most important representatives of post-war German expressionism. The museum showed two paintings from the 1920s 'Self-portrait as clown and Aerial acrobats' as well as a large selection of his graphic work, including prints from the series Die Hölle, Stadtnacht and Berliner Reise, all on loan from the comprehensive collection of the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal.
