Rops engraved "Mors syphilitica" symbolised by a horrible and only half-emaciated woman. She leans her shoulder against a door behind which she must be watching for a dying debauchee. With her mouth gaping, she raises a defiant look to the sky... Behind her, we can see the edge of the scythe.
